Making Disciples for the Kingdom of God

Director of Christian Education
Message from the Director
God has blessed me with the amazing opportunity to lead the Christian Education Department. Christian Education is much more than organizing programs for the sake of tradition, but it encompasses coordinating strategies and programs that facilitate spiritual growth.

Spiritual growth is defined as (1) increasing in your knowledge and understanding of God's Word, (2) decreasing in your frequency and severity of sin, (3) increasing in your practice of Christ-like qualities, and (4) increasing in your faith and trust in God. Perhaps the best summary of spiritual growth is becoming more like Jesus Christ.

As I continue on this journey as CED Director, I want to really focus on increasing my spirituality on a personal level, as well as establishing programs and trainings that will allow you to increase your spirituality on a personal level and well. However, discipleship should not only be happening on a person level, but also one-on-one with brothers and sisters in Christ, in small groups, and in mid-size groups; so, my focus will be in those areas as well.

Though I have many ideas I would like to see come into fruition, the Christian Education Department is not a one-person job. It takes many people working together at different levels and in different capacities. I pray that each of you will be inclined to be an active part of this ministry, aimed at building up of the body of Christ.

Yours in Christ,
Hilary Cunningham
